Letter from teacher
Dear Families,
This week, we have been preparing for our future perch dissection as we gathered information about the purpose of specific anatomy. We discussed how the lateral line enables fish to feel vibrations, which help it survive by increasing their ability to feel predators, prey, or to allow them to stay in schools. In addition, we looked more closely at the specific functions of the brain, heart, and digestive systems.
We also began our ocean widow mural. This will connect to our content next week as we explore the differences between salt water and fresh water. We will also work on some basic geographical concepts.
Questions to ask your child:
What is the function of the lateral line?
How does the lateral line help a fish survive?
What is the function of the fish’s brain?
Why do fish have scales?
What is the function of a fish’s heart?
How does a digestive system work?
