Letter from teacher
Hello PPSEL Community,
As your music teacher at PPSEL for the 2010-2011 school year, I hope you are having a wonderful summer. I hope that summer has brought adventures, parties, get-togethers, and lots of music--all kinds of music.
There are many musical adventures in store for you as you return to school. Whether your classroom expeditions will take you near or far, you will learn songs that help tell the story of your expeditions. You will also participate in musical investigations as you discover, explore, and master the language of music.
Elementary students can look forward to singing, playing instruments, and learning proper performance etiquette. Elementary students will continue to build upon the skills that they learned last year: understanding musical form, identifying musical instruments, and performing in an ensemble.
Middle school students will explore the world of Performing Arts through various electives. Last year, the students in orchestra committed to an entire year of learning the basic skills of playing stringed instruments. This year they will take that knowledge with them to our Advanced/Intermediate String Ensemble class. There the students will join with others in a formal ensemble experience.
Middle school students will also be able to participate in the following electives: Beginning string ensemble, Choir, and Theatre. More information will be available as the school year begins.
REMINDER: Middle school students, IF YOU ARE INTERESTED in either of the two ensemble classes, PLEASE let Mr. Knapp know.
So, I hope you all have enjoyed your summer! Come to school ready to share your musical adventures. If you haven't had one yet, turn on the radio, fill your ears with music, and sing your heart out! (You still have two weeks! :-) See you all soon.
Musically,
Mrs. Melgr
