Dear Students and Parents,
I am so excited to be teaching your child this year. I am looking forward to another amazing year! I have been at PPSEL since 2010.  The first few weeks of school we will be reviewing routines and procedures and coming up with our classroom expectations. We will work on getting to know each other again as well as new students who join our class so we can build a strong community within our classroom. We will also be working on creating a classroom where students feel safe and secure enough to take chances and make mistakes, as well as encouraging students to take responsibility for their own learning. We will be working together as a “crew … not passengers” during this school year.   Our team has many exciting and interesting activities planned for you.  If you have questions, please e-mail me at

Welcome to Mrs. Silva's classroom! Our classroom is structured to provide a safe and productive learning environment for all students. This is achieved early on in the year by fostering strong routines and classroom rules that are based on our school character traits: Respect, Integrity, Compassion, Self-Discipline, and Craftsmanship.

The beginning of our Fall expedition begins as a mystery piece.  As students learn about each mystery piece they will discover that they are diving into the history of how Colorado came to be. Students start with the exploration off with trappers, traders and mountain men.  During case study two, students learn about mining and how Colorado became a state.  We end our expedition bringing it to our community and learn about the history of Colorado Springs and government.

Welcome to fourth grade, a very exciting year full of growth and learning! It is my privilege to be your child’s fourth grade teacher. We will be working together throughout the year to explore some very fun and interesting topics, as well as mastering division facts and multiple paragraph writing.
My name is Jessica Silva. I grew up in the great state of Wyoming. I went to the University of Wyoming and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education. After graduating from college I moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming and taught third grade for one year before moving to Colorado Springs. After that, I was been employed by District 12 in Colorado Springs teaching second grade for two years.
I have spent my summer hanging out with my two rambunctious boys. There have been plenty of trips to the zoo, and local parks. We have also been camping around our great state . I made a few trips back home to Wyoming to visit my family as well.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy being outdoors with my family and friends. I like skiing but do not get to go as much as I would like. Like most of you, the mountains provide many activities for my family and I like camping, off-roading, and hiking. My dog, Gator, enjoys dragging me around the block, stealing my socks, my shoes and the food in our refrigerator. I love watching sports on TV even though I do not know all of the rules and regulations. When my husband is home, the TV never switches off ESPN, unless my sons gets they way and then it’s Mickey Mouse Clubhouse or Paw Patrol
I began PPSEL in 2010. I am very excited to teach the same group of students this year.
