Current Homework

Students received their third quarter report cards today. We are starting our final product this week. I am asking students to bring in recycled materials: 2L bottles; egg cartons; and containers that can be used as pots [coffee cans].

Students are beginning their final product work this week. We will be designing prototypes of vertical gardens for homes and shelters out of recycled materials. This week we will be starting seeds as well as determining what fruits and vegetables we are most interested in growing/farming indoors.

If you are interested in helping out, donating materials, or have any of your own ingenious contribution, please let me know.

Sincerely,

Jessica VandeVusse

Ms. V is returning for her sixth year at PPSEL as the middle school science teacher. Ms. V joined PPSEL after working as a chemistry teacher in an all boy’s high school in Chicago’s Southside. Ms. V grew up in central Michigan and moved to Chicago to attend college. After graduating from college, she worked in a hepatitis research lab. She left the research lab in 1998 to teach high school science. She has been in the classroom teaching biology, chemistry and physics ever since.

Outside of the classroom, Ms. V enjoys spending time with her family. They spend their time fishing, hiking and camping. Ms. V is very excited about the opportunity to teach at PPSEL and is looking forward our upcoming year.
