Hello PPSEL Families,
We hope that all of you have been enjoying the warm weather.
We wanted to put a few important things on your calendar.
Meet Your Teacher Night
This event is August 5th and is an Open House format from 4:30-6. Families will learn classroom/teacher assignments, hear from the teacher regarding classroom procedures, and parents can also bring in their school supplies, if they choose. (School Supply lists can be found on our website.)
In addition to getting classroom information, there will be tables with information on specific topics.
Some of the tables will likely include:
Boy Scouts
Girl Scouts
PPSEL Elective Teachers
PPSEL Nursing
Expeditionary Kids Before and After School Program
School Administrators
Parking! Parking will be at a premium for this event. It is not necessary to come right at 4:30 as this is an Open House format. Please be courteous to our neighbors. Do not block driveways or use driveways to turn around in. The field on the west side of our property will be open for auxiliary parking—just follow the colored flags up.
New Family Orientation
This is August 5th at 3:00 and is online. This will be a chance for new families to meet leadership and learn about important processes at PPSEL. This will be a virtual event. We have previously had this happen at Meet Your Teacher Night, but it was overwhelming for new families, so we will spend an hour or less virtually so families can focus solely on their child’s classroom(s) and teacher(s) at Meet Your Teacher Night. School leadership will also have a space at Meet Your Teacher night as well for specific questions. There is a Zoom link, but since we want this to be solely PPSEL New Families, please email don.knapp@ppsel.org with your name and your child’s name to receive the link.
Used Uniform Swap and Sale
The PTO will be running a uniform sale/swap at Meet Your Teacher Night. Come to purchase used uniform shirts. You can also swap gently used shirts for another size. Number of items may be limited in sizes where they have limited numbers.
New Families
For new families, please understand that we give you a lot of understanding during the first couple of weeks. As long as you have a plan for uniforms, new families are exempt from having to wear uniforms for the first couple of weeks. We will go over a lot of the information that you need to know at New Family Orientation, but realize that we are a very responsive staff—when you are confused, simply reach out to get answers. We will go over pick-up and drop-off procedures during orientation, but if you miss it, if you simply use your eyes and listen to the staff guiding the process, you will easily understand the process.
First day of School is August 7th. Remember that our full calendar can be downloaded from our website.
We look forward to the new year! We can’t wait to see all of you.
