The PPSEL School Board is made up of 5 individuals plus the principal. The school board is a policy board, not a board who actively manages the day-to-day school activities. Periodically, the School Accountability Committee at PPSEL runs an election for the PPSEL school board. Each household of a current PPSEL student has one vote in the election.
This year’s election ballot contains two questions:
- Choose one candidate from the following two candidates to be elected to the PPSEL School Board:
- Dustin Hanson
- Jordan Pulver
- Do you choose to re-elect Julia Lynn as a board member?
The election will take place from 3-4 in the Kindergarten Hallway on October 28th.
Electronic Ballots can be requested this this link: https://forms.gle/MLT3PPCBvvhBvUnz9
Bios for the candidate are below in alphabetical order:
Dustin Hanson
Dustin is a proud husband of his wife Shannon and a dad to 4 outstanding kiddos. His family has been in attendance at PPSEL over the past several years and has seen, firsthand, the advantages of an Expeditionary style of learning. He is a firm believer in the ideals PPSEL aims to impart to it’s students regarding personal character, independent thinking and social awareness. It would be with great honor and a commitment to continuing forward with the traditions that make this community what it is today, that he would serve on this board if elected.
Julia Lynn
I am a Registered Nurse, a mother of two little boys who both attend PPSEL and a wife of a Navy Veteran. In my 15 years as Registered Nurse, I have functioned in a variety of leadership and education roles. As a Clinical Nurse Manager I have served as a voting member for a governing body helping to examine new policies and procedures, developing plans for implementation and working through any obstacles or concerns that arise. I was also a Den Leader and Board Member for Cub Scout Pack 231. As a Board Member I helped to plan events, monitored pack finances and served as a voting member for any pack decisions. My experience leads me to make decisions based upon research, best practices, and listening to others thoughts and concerns.
PPSEL’s vision to be a community that helps cultivate students with strong character and a desire for learning is what made our family choose this school. I believe that PPSEL’s leadership, staff, families and expeditionary learning model is what makes our school such a special environment for our children. Our family is blessed to be part of the PPSEL community and I would love to continue to support PPSEL in a meaningful way as a School Board Member.
Jordan Pulver
I am grateful and excited to be considered for a position on this year’s school board!
I am a mom of four boys at PPSEL, all of whom have been here since Pre-K, and our love for this school runs deep. PPSEL has provided an incredible family and community for my kids, but also for me and my husband.
Over the last couple of years, I’ve discovered, or rediscovered, things I love to do aside from being a mom. A few of these things are reading, gardening and baking. One of my absolute favorite things, though, is being out on the boat. During the spring and summer months you’ll find our family on the boat on a lake somewhere. As a mom, I’ve learned to love new activities that keep me close to my boys now and for years to come like fishing, hunting, camping and playing backyard sports.
I feel that I will be a good addition to the school board because of my animated, enthusiastic, and positive nature, my ability to see multiple perspectives on issues, my calm, rational demeanor and my ability to communicate effectively. I’ve worked in the same industry for 22 years and recently celebrated my 15-year anniversary with the same company. My success has come from forming strong relationships with my clients, communicating clearly and efficiently, as well as understanding and conveying the importance of my clients’ success and happiness.
After being a part of the PPSEL community for eight years, I would love the opportunity to give back to the school that has given so much to our family. As a member of the school board, I hope to support our school in whatever way I can as we continue down the incredible path we’re on.
