Dear Parents,
Welcome to kindergarten! I am so excited to start a new year and begin this educational journey with your child!
Here are few things to know for the school year:
- Snack: Every child is responsible for bringing his/her snacks on a daily basis. Please send something that is healthy and quick to eat for a snack. We have 2 snacks, a morning and afternoon snack. There is 1 snack on Fridays.
- Water Bottles: These are highly encouraged, as it will make accessing water quicker and easier. Students will keep these in their backpacks and may pull them out during water breaks or when there is a break during transitioning between activities.
- Backpacks: Children need to come to school each day with a backpack.
Thank you for all your help with these items. Please let me know if you have any questions. My email is amy.parshall@ppssel.org.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Parshall
Please be sure to read the school handbook regarding uniform policy, fieldwork information and items not allowed at school.
Fall Expedition:
The Color of Us
In this expedition, students will begin with focusing on the past and present. They will compare their life to those of children in the past. Students will then study art and music from around the world, comparing and contrasting them to other cultures as well as their own. Throughout the expedition, the students will be exposed to various songs and arts from different countries to discover how children from around the world express themselves.
I was born and raised in Seattle, WA for my first 25 years (Go Seahawks!). I graduated from Western Washington University with my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, then moved to Arizona where I obtained my Master’s degree in Education of Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Students. I started teaching in 2008 for the Department of Defense in Germany. As a military spouse I have lived and taught all over the world to include Texas, Arizona, Germany, England and Colorado. After a few years off to stay at home with our son, I started working at PPSEL in 2021 and transitioned to a Kindergarten teacher midway through the 2022-23 school year.
We love our Colorado living and are looking forward to my husband’s retirement here with our son (who also attends PPSEL). In my spare time I love being outdoors hiking and camping, reading, crafting and traveling anywhere I can!
