Dear parents and students,

I am Mr. Neville (pronounced: nuh-VIL (like Cruella de Vil, but with an N)) and I am so very excited to be teaching 3rd grade at PPSEL this year!  I am passionate about Mathematics, Physics/the many Sciences, Story-telling and Performance, and Art.  I expect to bring my love of learning and these many fields into our classroom as we explore Colorado History and Plants and Animals (as well as our 4th grade expeditions, too)!

I hope that you are as excited as I am to build a strong crew and take on the next two years with enthusiasm for learning and exploring and sharing the wealth of knowledge that we will undoubtedly discover together!

Happily yours,

Mr. Neville

The beginning of our Fall 2019 expedition begins as a mystery piece.  As students learn about each mystery piece they will discover that they are diving into the history of how Colorado came to be. Students start with the exploration off with trappers, traders and mountain men.  During case study two, students learn about mining and how Colorado became a state.  We end our expedition bringing it to our community and learn about the history of Colorado Springs and government.

I am Shay Neville, and this will be my second year teaching 3rd and 4th grade at PPSEL! I come from Wyoming where I graduated from U.W. with a degree in both Elementary Education and Art Education. Before joining the PPSEL Family, I taught 1st-3rd graders at the University of Wyoming Art Museum in the Learning from the Masters program for 3 years.
I call the Rocky Mountains home and have lived in Montana, Wyoming, and now Colorado. My wife and I enjoy spending our breaks and downtime doing everything outdoors from hiking and mountain-biking to hunting and fishing to napping on the beach or on the mountainside. When it's too cold or miserable to be outside, I am passionate about collecting and playing board games of every sort (especially if they involve deep strategy!)
